I’m Max, I was born with an upper limb difference and despite struggling with shyness, it’s always been my motivation.
My husband, Tom, and I love to adventure; since 2014 we’ve travelled the world, lived in Australia, learned to scuba dive, swum with sharks, trekked to Everest Base Camp and hiked the 2189-mile Appalachian Trail. We converted our van into a tiny home and toured the UK and Ireland before falling for the beautiful mountains of North Wales where we volunteer with the search and rescue dogs (SARDA Wales) and are trainees with the Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team. Tom works as a mountain leader and graphic designer, and I’m a copywriter. I rediscovered the Reach family in 2020 and it changed my life because I realised that I’m not alone on my limb different journey. In 2021 Tom and I took over as editor and designer of Reach’s magazine Within Reach; we love sharing the voices and true stories of Reach children, parents, and adults, as well as Reach news, inspiring tales from role models and champions of representation and inclusion.
