Miles was born in 1959 with upper limb phocomelia (very short malformed arms) caused by the drug Thalidomide. Watch Miles a true inspiration, a man who really lives life without limits.
Originally from Sheffield, Miles has been based in Scotland for the last 21 years. He works for himself and specialises in leadership and organisation/governance development and meeting facilitation. He has particular expertise and experience in the not-for-profit and public sectors.
Since 1990 Miles has designed and delivered bespoke governance and leadership development programmes for a range of not-for-profit and public sector organisations in the UK and abroad.
Miles previously worked for the leadership development organisation Common Purpose as Programme Director and for the Scottish Arts Council as Senior Development Officer (National Lottery), later running the Advancement Programme – a scheme to help organisations achieve lasting positive change. Before this he was Head of Arts Business Services for Yorkshire and Humberside Arts board for eight years, and before that the Marketing Manager for the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff. He is an accredited Action Learning Set facilitator and has run training programmes in coaching and mentoring.
Miles is Chair of the Board of Birds of Paradise Theatre Company and a Director on the Board of Craft Scotland, and was the Chair of the Board of the Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling for five years.
Outside of his professional life Miles loves travel and the outdoors / mountaineering.
