Beyond limits

Families

Having a child born with a limb difference can come unexpectedly. We are here to support you.

As a new parent, you may be conscious of your baby’s limb difference, how other people may look at your child and the questions asked. This is normal and it is important to address these feelings to be able to develop acceptance of your child’s differences and, over time, help your child feel safe and supported.

Read Stuart Waterman’s story of parenting a toddler with a limb difference first published in 2021 in our magazine ‘Within Reach’:

“We worried about him managing to sit up. He sat up. We worried about him being able to crawl. He crawled. We worried about him pulling to stand, and then walking. He pulled to stand, and he walked. And now he runs.
Everywhere!” – Writer and Reach Dad, Stuart Waterman
